31st August ROME

31st August ROME / Pantheon / Piazza Navona / Charta ROMA Bus around ROME / The Roman Forum / Colosseum / Bus back to Apartment.
28 degrees - Sunny
We woke after a solid sleep, well..... at least I did. Mum and Dad were up at 4 am. After breakfast, (weet-a-bix and Special K) we headed to the Pantheon which was amazing!!   We had a coffee and juices at a cafe in the Piazza it was great.
Look at all these photos!!

After the Pantheon we walked to the Piazza Navona, it is a Piazza with lots of restaurants around the edges and a big fountain in the middle. We then walked to Campo de Fiori, which is a big oval market square. We bought some apples and some Pizza per slice, great set up here for fooooood!, the cafe bars etc are everywhere.

Dad wanted to catch the Bus (Charter Roma-double decker open red bus this enabled us to hop on and off the bus at about 12 different sites for a 48hr period) to the Colosseum so we went to find the Bus stop. We had some difficulty finding the bus stop, but we eventually found it about 1km away near the Vatican City. So we caught the Bus to the Colosseum and took some photos while driving around.

We walked to the Roman Forum to buy our tickets to cover the entry to the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine, to save the cue at the Colosseum. Dad got some audio phones which have heaps of information about the Roman Forum. (After 20 minutes Luke, Tom, Mum and I thought it was all bull, Dad was all serious) we couldn’t stop laughing. After that experience, we entered the colosseum. It was awesome!!  It is so much bigger than we thought. There are so many arches and artifacts to look at as well.

After that we caught the Bus back to our apartment and one stop before we were going to get off, Luke vomited all over the floor. So we jumped off at the Vatican stop and walked the rest of the way to our apartments.
Luke was pretty unwell, must have picked up a bug from the plane because we had all eaten and drank the same foods.  Luke went to bed and dad went down to one of the little shops and bought some pasta and tomatoes for mum to cook up for our dinner.  I slept in with Tom that night.  A very tiring day!!
