1st September Villa Borghese / Il Vittoriano
Sunny and 28 degrees.
I woke early with Tom lying on top of me. I slept in his bed because Luke was throwing up all night. Today ‘was’ going to be a rest day, but mum decided to go to Villa Borghese, to try to get free wi-fi connection, but we had to have an italian sim card so we couldn’t connect. Villa Borghese is a huge park, with a fantastic view over Rome. We hired a four wheeled bike and went for a ride around the park. Dad and Luke met us up there and we had a drink in a cafe in the park and walked down to Quirinal and Il Vittoriano a gigantic white marble monument built for Italy’s first king Vittorio Emmanuele 11. It is the home of the Unknown Soldier and is under guard 24 hours a day. It is absolutely unreal!
We then walked back up to Trevi to find the internet cafe, but it was closed. So we headed back to Trevi Fountain and had dinner at Al Presidente a nice italian restaurant and gelato at Il Gelato di San Crispino (best Gelato in Rome) delicious !!. After dinner Mum and I went to McDonalds where we thought we would be able to access free wi-fi but again couldn’t log on, so we walked home and went to bed, a very tiring day.
