2nd September 2010 - Vatican Museums / St Peters Basilica
Sunny 28 degrees.
Awoke early as we had to get to the Vatican Museums to meet our tour at 9.15am. Our tour guides name was Georgia she was English and had been in Rome for 2 years. It was her last tour as she has been accepted into acting school back home so is leaving next week. She was absolutely fantastic and new everything about the Vatican Museum and all
art history. The Sistine Chapel was out of this world and unbelievable that Michelangelo took 4 years to paint it and another 6 years to paint the Final Judgement. Saint Peters Basilica and Saint Peters Square of course was amazing so huge. It took 126 years to build Saint Peters Basilica and what a masterpiece. We stayed here for about 5 hours and then walked up to a restaurant for some pasta. We came back home for a rest, and dad started packing our bags for our trip to Venice tomorrow morning. We waited for Paola (our apartment meet and greet person) to check the apt and give us our deposit back, and then went for walk to Piazza Navona to check out the internet cafe there, had dinner and walked back to our apartment for an early night. We leave for Venice by train in the morning at 7am. Our last night in ROMA!! We love it here and will definately be coming back.
