9th September

9th September - Beautiful sunny day 26 degrees
Today we decided to take the car and catch the car ferry across to Cadenabbia which is a town across the river from Bellagio about 10 mins away by ferry.  When we reached Cadenabbia we travelled about 5 minutes south to Tremezzo. We visited Villa Carlotta which is situated right on the coast and is an 18th century villa with great gardens. We left Villa Carlotta and drove along the coast road north past Mennagio, and Dongo.  We took a scenic road to Peglio which is high up in the mountains about 3 kms up a winding road.  The view was outstanding from the top which also had a 17th century stone church of Sant’Eusebio.  The countryside was lovely and we passed huge pumpkins growing on the side of the road.

We made our way back down and continued north on the coast road where we stopped at Abbazia di Piona, for something to eat at the kiosk.  We all went in for a swim in the lake with our undies on, whilst mum and dad watched us.  The edge of the lake had lots of pebbles and the lake was freshwater.  There were swans and ducks and the water was a deep blue colour.  We left Piona and followed the lake on the opposite side of Bellagio, through Varenna and Lecco and back home.  A great day!
The boys played their ds and I went down to the supermarket with dad.  Mum is making rissoles tonight for dinner with salad.  Dad, Tom and I went for a walk down to the beach at the bottom of our road to check out our sunbaking spot for tommorrow.
