5th September - VENICE to LIMONTA

5/9/10 - A little cloudy today but warm
Alarm went off at 7am this morning as we had a water taxi coming to pick us up and take us to the train station at 8am.  Mum and Dad came down to our room to help pack our bags and Tom and Luke were still asleep.  We got dressed and packed everything up.  Our taxi had arrived it was a beautiful wooden boat.  Cristiano our driver told us that the boat cost Euro 150,000 so they were very well looked after.  We loaded our bags on and settled in for our 10 min journey to St Lucia Train Station.  (Much easier than dragging our bags over bridges and then catching a Vaporetta to the station).
We hadn’t had any breakfast so went into the Caffeteria and had a croissant filled with jam, orange juice and a couple of coffees.
We made our way to platform 6 for our journey to Milan and boarded the train at 8.50am.
Ari va derci  VENICE!!
The seats were large and we have a table in the middle so that we can put our books, computer, drinks colouring in on. Mum, Luke, Tom and I all sat together.  Dad sat across the aisle next to some young guys from Switzerland, that had been travelling through Italy with their mates.  They had to return for work and their other 3 mates were staying for another 3 weeks.  The boys played their ds and I read my Cherub book.  Dad read his Lance Armstrong book and mum did some stuff on the lap top.  We travelled through some nice country side and stopped at Verona, brescia, for a short time to let some passengers on and off.
We stepped off the train to find a beautiful station, we had to find Hertz hire car and a friendly taxi driver gave us a free ride to the address.  We went to pick up our car but the receptionist had written down the wrong bay number so when we pressed the unlock key another car opened up!!  Luckily this was our car a Ford Mondao and Dad did a few practice laps around the car park before we ventured out onto the road.!!  A very funny experience.  We drove from Milan to Limonta it took about 1 hour.  It is the most amazing place the lake is unbelievable.  We  found our apartment which has spectacular views of the lake and waited for Jen our contact person to let us in.  Turns out she is an Aussie who has lived in Bellagio for a couple of years.  We unpacked and went for a drive into Bellagio about 5 mins of winding roads, it is hard to keep your eyes on the road because the view is so unreal.  We had a look at the shops and had dinner and gelato and drove back to our apt.  We watched Meet the Fockers on dvd and mum went to bed. What a day.
