14.9.10 - Notre Dame Cathedral / Euro Disney
Today we woke up early as we wanted to go into the Notre Dame Cathedral and then onto Euro Disney. We had our breaky and packed our backpacks and took the short walk to Notre Dame. Notre Dame means (the Cathedral of Our Lady of Paris). The building of the cathedral started in 1163 and completed in the 1400’s. It was badly damaged in the revolution and was renovated in the mid 1800’s.
It was quite dark inside and there were special areas to light candles for your loved ones. The stained glass rose shaped windows in the church were huge, there were 2 identical ones on each side of the church, and lots of statues of Saints around the church, it was really quiet.
We left the church and tried to find the RER A line to catch the train to Disney. We eventually found our way and jumped on the next train. The train trip took about 1/2 hour out of Paris and stopped right outside of Disneyland. We walked up the ramp and there it was, a Big castle, we had decided to go on Big Thunder Mountain first, which was a fun rollercoaster that twists and turns and at the end it stops really quickly. Then luke, dad and I went on the Indiana Jones ride (tommy was too short to go on) that was pretty good. It did a loop, but it was really short. Luke was a bit scared to go this ride but was very proud of himself when he got off. Then onto the Pirates of the Carribean ride. That was really slow. It wasn’t much of a ride. After we got something to eat in Silver Spur Steak house, we walked over to Walt Disney Studios Park where we wanted to watch a stunt show (like in movieworld but much cooler). There was a huge film lot with barrels and fruit shops etc and the baddies were in small black cars, and the goodie was in a red car, the driving and stunts were amazing. There was also a guy on a motorbike that did wheelies and rode on one leg and held on with one arm, all the cool stuff. It was awesome! After that we walked back to Disneyland park and went on the Space Mountain: Mission 2 ride (the best ride here) it took off in the dark at about 100 miles an hour, we were all screaming. It went so fast and was totally dark with lasers and different planets jumping out at you. An awesome ride! Tom wanted to go onto the Star Wars ride so we ran over to that before the park closed. The street parade was on as we were leaving and we got home at about 8.15pm. We had a great day. Dad packed our bags as we were leaving in the morning for London. Such a AWESOME Day!! :D
Vinn wants to know why there wasn't a photo of Lou and Pete kissing up the Eiffel tower?? Great photos and love your writing Sam!!! Nick XX
